A Better Shave

The Barbers at Razors pride themselves off their precision shaving knowledge, ability and aftercare. Below are some tips on how to get a clean, comfortable barbershop shave without leaving your bathroom.

- Take a shower before shaving. Better yet, shave in the shower. The hot water and steam help to open your pores and soften the beard. This means you will spend less time going over the same spots to get a better shave.

- Avoid alcohol-based products, they will dry out your face. Just like after a long night of drinking, your skin will be dehydrated, rough, and older looking.

- Don't mess around with cheap foam-in-can shave cream. Use the right product with quality ingredients to do something good for your face without stepping into a barbershop. See chart below for the right product for your skin.

- Shave in the direction of hair growth. Use your razor-free fingers to to feel it out before you hit the spot. Once you get the hang of it, this two-handed shaving method will get the job done in no time.

- Rinse your blade frequently in hot water. A dull blade clogged with hair and product will get you nowhere fast. A frequent hot water rinse will help keep the blade clean.

- Rinse your face with cool water and pat dry. Cool water closes the pores and keep out dirt and grime that lead to greasy, breakout-prone skin.

- Don't forget to always finish with a moisturizer. There's nothing like a dual-action lotion to soothe your skin and get it ready for the damaging elements it faces everyday.
